Research and Resources-

During a quick installation or repair, you're really going to have to think on your feet. There probably won't be time to get on the internet and do a search. But, if you're installing some new part or harness, it couldn't hurt to read the instructions! I know, men don't ask for directions either, but why struggle when you may have a key piece of information right in your hands? Most manufacturers have some sort of technical support phone number as well, so once you have clear picture of your actual question, give them a ring. Good tech suppprt people usually won't laugh at you right away :)

On the bigger long term jobs, you may actually be creating new problems each time you add a component or feature. So, I'm really interested in Rally Car Racing and not so much into Drag Racing. That doesn't man that the "other Guys" don't have similar problems and cool products to get things rolling. Take a look at this Rally Car Distributor and you'll find a lot of useful stuff shipping right from PA.

The internet can be the ultimate weapon for researching some basic car-specific problems as well as new product applications. There's probably an enthusiast group for any car you can imagine, so start by searching out boards related to your project vehicle. If they have an electrical or troubleshooting section, you're in luck. Also keep an eye open for any vendors that sell to this group- their website probably has some very useful tech tips.Still not finding an answer? Post up on the boards or pick up the phone- the only dumb question is the one that wasn't asked !

There's plenty of "generic" information available as well- maybe you just need to know a safe place to tap ignition power on a car for some accessory- please try the 12 volt.com there is a lot of information there. You'll also find some great user created content on basic relay applications, etc. Happy hunting-
